Wonderful small exceptionally clean hotel with efficient service and courtyard views. Best possible location - close enough to the bars nearby, the center of action and the subwaystation "Opera ". Also, to the airport via metro.

The location of the hostal could not have been better. It was convenient for the metro, major sights and the entertainment areas in central Madrid
The room was rather small, but it was a single and you get what you pay for!

The location is fantastic for exploring nearby attractions. Be prepared for some noise from neighboring rooms, which could be distracting at times.

The central location and the nice and clean though very small rooms with the tiny but separate private bathroom for the little money. Free WiFi.
As already said, the rooms are very small. The desk might be insufficient for business people. For people >190cm the bed might be a little small. The receptionist did not speak English.

The location was within walking distance of most of the landmarks in Madrid. Having a car is a liability since parking is hundreds of meters away.
No air conditioning - at least they would not turn it on.

The location was excellent, right at the Opera metro stop, a short walk to the Palacios Real, Puerto del Sol and Plaza Mayor. The Prado, Thyssen and Reina Sophia were short trips on the metro. The Oriente is on a pedestrian only street.
There was an extreme amount of street noise. We live in New York City so we are used to noise but the level we encountered made it difficult to sleep; young people were partying on the street at 5:00 in the morning. Our visit coincided Spanish National Day weekend so this may have been a factor. However there is construction at the plaza and metro stop on the corner which was going on on regular work days so there will definitely be some noise until it is completed. We had a room facing the street. People with rooms in the back were not bothered by noise so we would stay again but only if a room in the back were available.

With a private bathroom and flat screen TV, it was almost like staying in a hotel. The room was basic but met all of our needs. It was very clean and everything was in good condition. There was a computer in the common area with free internet access which was great.
When we turned on the air conditioning, there was an unpleasant smell of old tobacco. Same with the exhaust fan in the bathroom.

A perfect location and friendly stuff
1. The stuff doesn't speak english (except 1 person), so it was really difficult to explain my needs or ask questions. 2. The shower bath was too small for me and the shower holder had uncomfortable position

Charming Stay in the Heart of Madrid
We spent three wonderful nights in a well-equipped room. The balcony view was perfect for enjoying evenings with a drink while watching the lively Opera square below. I appreciated the cleanliness, and the daily towel changes added a nice touch. Don't miss exploring nearby eateries!

The location was the best thing about Hostal Oriente, right by Opera station and a 2-minute walk to the beautiful Royal Palace and it's gardens. It is also an easy stroll and Gran Via and Sol from the hotel.
